A comprehensive, multi-regional study was conducted in Ecuador to identify training needs in the beekeeping sector. A mixed methodology combining qualitative and quantitative approaches was used to analyze training needs in different areas of beekeeping, such as pre-harvest, harvest, post-harvest, certification and other relevant topics. This included a survey of beekeepers, technicians and people involved in beekeeping in different regions of the country. The results showed a strong interest in beekeeping, accompanied by a clear demand for training in key areas: bee feeding, hive reproduction, bee health, apiary management, production diversification and marketing of apiculture products. The diversity of participants signaled a commitment to improving beekeeping skills and knowledge. Therefore, it is necessary to understand the priorities of beekeepers in order to plan effective educational programs that meet their real needs, thus ensuring a positive and sustainable impact on beekeeping practice. Finally, it is recommended that future studies be clearer about the objectives and target groups of the surveys, as well as inclusive and adaptive approaches in beekeeping training strategies, for promoting the sustainable development of the sector.
