In Ecuador, province of Carchi, Cantón Tulcán, in the rural parishes located on the border with Colombia, the preliminary investigation of the Project "Study of the organizational culture and livelihoods of the peasant associations of the Colombian-Ecuadorian border integration zone" that the Universidad Técnica del Norte executes, in agreement with the investigation that carries out the Universidad Mariana de Pasto, Colombia, determined the outstanding actions that are developed in the locality, emphasizing the agricultural work and own cattle of the zone, the multiple tillage of the land, the conservation of livestock, the activities of services, handicrafts and other minor undertakings that sustain the income of the inhabitants to cover the basic needs not met, with the attributes and customs of the inhabitants who seek new demands.
