The objective of this research was to promote cooperative learning as a methodological strategy for the study of social sciences in grade 7th of the La Mata Educational Institution of the municipality of Chimichagua. Methodologically, the work was located in the qualitative paradigm, with a critical reflective approach in the method of Pedagogical Action Research. Its design was deployed in three phases: deconstruction (reflection, diagnosis and reflection), reconstruction (action and observation), and evaluation of the effectiveness of practice (self-reflection). The instruments were: a student questionnaire and a field diary were applied to collect the experiences. The results indicated a lack of knowledge about the advantages of cooperative learning. The application of the methodological strategies led them to understand each other as a team and to achieve significant learning, concluding that the cooperative learning, as a methodological strategy for the study of Social Sciences, gave the students new knowledge and the understanding of work teams.
