Recreation and leisure are essential for enhancing quality of life, particularly through agroecological tourism, as they promote active relaxation and a connection with the environment. This study employed a qualitative descriptive approach, utilizing participatory action research methodology. The techniques and tools used included interviews, experience systematization, and categorical data analysis. Thirty-five students and three key informants participated. A recreational plan for agroecological tourist routes in biocultural spaces was developed. The findings emphasize the significance of experiential and sustainable recreational activities, highlighting the interplay between nature and history and the value of local knowledge. Participants’ preferred activities include group dynamics, yoga, and bird watching, indicating substantial potential for sustainable development in Barinas. Proposed improvements in infrastructure and training aim to integrate these activities, addressing challenges such as limited information and resources. Lastly, a replicable pedagogical model is suggested to promote environmental awareness and sustainable tourism development.
