Design of a didactic strategy in environmental education from the characterization of previous ideas

This article presents some of the results of the research carried out at the Institución Educativa Técnico Comercial de Tocancipá, intending to explore the previous ideas of children, parents, and older adults, as a starting point to elaborate a didactic strategy that leads to the construction of an environmental knowledge about the Taboima wetland and its protection. For this purpose, first, the characterization of the previous ideas was made, then the analysis of the possible relationships between them, and based on the results, the didactic strategy: Activity Guide Program was designed and implemented to determine its scope and limitations. Forty children, sixteen parents, and four older adults participated in the research. The study was framed in the qualitative approach with the action research methodology. Among the results, the identification of different recurring ideas of the target group stands out, which is the basis for the creation of two categories of analysis: situated learning and ethical-political. From these categories, the program was designed and implemented to favor the construction of knowledge, from the political, ethical, cultural, and ecological interactions of the children. Among the results, we highlight the promotion of participation, motivation, and reflection in the students on the problems related to the wetland, leading them to propose action plans.
