The main objective of the research project was to improve the teaching of the English language through the natural approach, to achieve this, an identification of the learning level and the needs of the students was carried out, in this way, it was sought that the learning of the language be more meaningful. It was through a qualitative study with a social critical approach supported by a type of action research (AR), applied to 40 first grade students (23 girls and 17 boys). In addition, information gathering techniques such as participant observation, diagnostic workshop and evaluative workshop were taken into account, as instruments: diagnostic workshop guide, field diary and evaluative workshop guide. The results obtained show as a positive aspect that all students know and differentiate some topics, however, there are other topics in which they have difficulty. Once the results were analyzed, some authors were sought to support the research and thus program activities according to the objectives set, to strengthen learning, motivation and teamwork; different strategies were applied such as games, dialogues, stories, memorabilia, songs, and scenic representation, accompanied by the teacher; these processes served as support to systematize the whole process. This type of work is important because it allows the ways of teaching to be continually renewed, due to the changes that may arise in the student population, in this way, it is considered that the skills in speaking and listening to the English language can be improved.
