Resumen
ABSTRACT: Environmental education is an interdisciplinary field that seeks to promote knowledge, awareness and actions that minimize the impact of environmental problems on the planet. According to the National Code of Renewable Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, cited in (Pita, 2016), environmental education developed in the context of schools must have spaces where students can recognize, interpret and have a direct relationship with the environment; so that they are sensitized and this has an impact on environmental protection actions within their community.
Now, environmental education is a current that was born as an essential response to the environmental shortcomings that have occurred recently, especially due to the loss of biodiversity, soil degradation and the lack of sensitivity of human beings with respect to the environment. natural. The above makes it necessary to educate new generations about positive environmental practices that help reduce pollution levels.
Consequently, this research aims to explore the effectiveness of pedagogical approaches in environmental education to promote greater environmental awareness and commitment among students. Through a critical analysis of the existing literature and the research carried out, the aim is to promote positive practices in environmental education and make an impact on the formation of pro-environmental attitudes and behaviors; To achieve the above, it is intended to create a school garden with the first grade students of the Consuelo Araujo Noguera educational institution, Jesús Sierra Uribe headquarters, a tool that would be transversal between knowledge, knowing how to do and knowing how to be.
