This article of background review is part of the construction of the reflection on the pedagogical practices that strengthen the teaching and learning processes in critical reading, where it is observed as a reference, the solution alternatives that different authors have proposed on the subject. In order to approach the development of the cognitive processes involved in learning to read from criticality, it is necessary to know, understand and observe carefully, through the documentary review, the essential moments and the ways that researchers used to enter the process of pedagogical introspection, as well as recognizing how, reflection leads to the generation of new practical knowledge in the classroom.
