Descripción
Objective: to carry out a reflective thematic review inherent in the coping and adaptation in the hemodialysis patient and the educational interventions by the nursing professional. Method: a reflective descriptive study whose purpose was to examine the published bibliography in relation to the aforementioned topic, in which the search criteria were the selection of 50 complete articles in Spanish, English and Portuguese, from the following databases: SciELO, Pubmed, Redalyc, Ovid nursing, published between 2006 and 2019. Results: it was evidenced that adaptation and coping problems are greater in the modes of: self-concept, physiological and role function, since the patient in hemodialysis therapy goes through a series of changes inherent to the treatment that affect their physical, emotional and social health; according to studies it was shown that they are involved in the patient’s adaptation process to this therapy. Conclusions: it was found that the patient in hemodialysis therapy goes through a series of changes inherent to the treatment that affect the different spheres: physical, mental, emotional, which has a negative impact on their quality of life; nursing educational interventions generate a positive effect on the coping and adaptation of the hemodialysis patient.
