DOI: https://doi.org/10.31948/rev.criterios/25.2-art2 Teaching and learning strategies are resources or procedures used by teachers and students to achieve participatory and meaningful learning. When designing the strategies in the micro curriculum, they must fulfill the training purposes and develop in the students the required competences. The research allowed to know the conceptions that teachers and students appropriate about curriculum, micro curriculum, competencies, among others, that play an important role in the design and development of teaching and learning strategies in the classroom. In addition, it was determined which strategies are most frequently used, in order to finally determine their contribution in the students’ training, which will allow them to respond and solve integral problems of their environment. The methodology was based on the qualitative paradigm with historical hermeneutical focus and a type of ethnographic research applied to education. The analysis and interpretation of the information also led to determine the importance of teacher training and their appropriation of fundamental pedagogical concepts to guide their academic processes with the appropriate use of teaching and learning strategies. In this regard, the most used strategies were the master class, socializations, workshops and laboratories. Finally, it was established which laboratories, workshops and practices are strategies that contribute in a better way to a learning by competences and increase the participation of the students.
