Descripción
Blacks and Whites’ Carnival in San Juan de Pasto can be read as a cultural event that goes beyond time and space structures of the city, and that suggests a peripheral habitat to its population, by departing from power formal structures. From this perspective, this article, result of research, analyzes how the Carnival becomes a collective action that faces up to the silencing of the region’s popular culture, bets for an equality of the community and establishes as a counter-discourse to the hegemonic order that answers to the historical necessity of the city for building its own definition inside a national narrative.
