The objective of this research was the analysis of emotional intelligence as a strategy in the school coexistence of fourth-grade students of the Educational Institution ‘El Carmelo’, based on the theories of several world-renowned authors. The study is presented under a post-positivist paradigm with a qualitative descriptive approach, following the action research method. The work unit was made up of ten students and two teachers from the fourth grade of the institution, aged between 9 and 11 years. For the collection of information, the unstructured interview technique and participant observation were used; as instruments, the field diary, and the checklist. As a result, it is concluded that students, being in the stage of concrete operations, have the ability to realize how their emotions affect their academic development. When they are able to recognize them, they have the opportunity, consciously, to modify their attitude and state of mind, contributing to their relationships with their peers, teachers, and family members; therefore, it is recommended to include emotional intelligence strategies in academic activities, which allow them to maintain interpersonal relationships that strengthen school coexistence.
