School spaces constitute ideal contexts for the formation of children as persons, being the pedagogical discursive practices, teaching tools that can contribute to the development of student self-esteem. The objective of the research was to recognize the pedagogical practices related to the selfesteem of the students of the Simon Bolivar Educational Institution, Ave Maria branch. The Rosenberg Test was applied with a phenomenological vision, to determine levels of student self-esteem, and the in-depth interview, to interpret the essence of the teacher’s dialogue on their pedagogical discursive practices from three categories that, from the teaching practice, made it possible to characterize pedagogical discursive practices. The results revealed low self-esteem in 80 % of the students. We conclude that it is necessary to improve pedagogical discursive practices so that they strengthen student self-esteem for emotional development, which led to proposing lines of action to guide the educational process.
