Reading comprehension is the capacity that human beings have to understand what they read. The objective of this research is to strengthen reading comprehension based on children’s biblical hermeneutics in fourth grade students. Methodologically, the work is located in the qualitative paradigm, in the sociocritical approach; its method is centered on the pedagogical action research, deployed in three phases: reflection, planning, execution of alternative actions and evaluation of achievements. The field diary and systematization were used to record the information. The results indicated that the students overcame the weaknesses referred to the comprehension of biblical texts, because the children’s biblical hermeneutics offered the opportunity to reflect and relate the word read with life, thus indicating that the students were able to understand the texts read, increased their vocabulary, had greater verbal fluency, and made inferences and conclusions from the events read.
