The development of this documentary research writing made it easier to identify how in recent years, governments have shown more interest in setting public policies aimed at protecting the environment. In this way, this review document seeks to reflect on the environmental issue, based on the regulations established in Brazil and Colombia.This allows us to describe the importance of official policies for environmental management. The methodology used is descriptive and analytical, which made it possible to identify that, although there are regulations on environmental matters, it is still necessary to improve actions and resources to materialize these initiatives, in order to preserve natural resources.
