Descripción
Through virtual learning environments, distance education incorporates different pedagogical resources such as synchronous and asynchronous activities, which seek the interaction of the student with the teacher in order to clarify or deepen content and enhance knowledge in certain subjects. This research presents an analysis of the participation of students in these activities and the impact on their academic performance. The sample was of 1.350 students of the Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja, in the academic components of General Biology, Corporate and Mercantile Legislation and Anthropology. The methodological design was based on the planning and implementation of synchronous and asynchronous activities and the analysis of significant participations. Participation in the asynchronous activity of the forum stood out in the face of synchronous activities. It was found that the greater the significant participation, the greater the incidence in obtaining a good academic performance.
