The Food Subsidy Program for students has been operating at the University of the Amazon since 2015. To date it has benefi ted 1,200 students; the qualitative balance of the process to design the respective improvement actions, according to its actors, is unknown. The research approach was mixed, since it involved quantitative elements through surveys, and qualitative, through interviews; the involved actors were the benefi ciary students of the subsidy and the directives responsible for the program of the Alma Mater. The students consider that the program has been an incentive and a true fortune. One of the major concerns of the program is to increase coverage and ensure a bett er quality of service by providers. The installed capacity of the bidders is low in relation to the required educational demand; in this way, thinking about increasing the coverage, would be conditioned among others, by this factor.
