To seek and fi nd information about graphic organizers today is a seemingly simple task. Not only is the printed information available, but there is access to a mega data source: internet. In this context of supposed thematic saturation, we intend to go beyond the usual documentary compilation on the diff erent types of schemes. This review shows the product of searches and encounters in relation to their ancestral origin: inventors and diagrammatic evolution, as well as contemporary foundations, framed in the main theoretical postulates about the use of graphic organizers.
