This article is about the results of the research called “Epistemology and Research Professor at Universities of Pasto”, carried out by the group Aletheuein of the Department of Humanities at Mariana University from 2008 to 2009. It is necessary to ana-lyze how the epistemology and teacher’s research need to find a kind of relationship that must be not only theoretical but go farther into an investigative and pedagogical work. It is assumed that epistemology helps strengthen the research processes, and the other functions of the university such as teaching and community outreach must be closely linked to the research process, because only the teacher who investigates is able to face the student with true knowledge and processes to carry out any research.The research was accomplished taking into account different questions, such as: ¿Do the higher education institutions have financial, technological, logistical resources and enough infrastructures to perform the research process? ¿Do the academics have the required philosophical education and the personal mood to devote to this research, to make it possible and strengthen it?
