Tuberculosis is a public health challenge that requires trained personnel for its early detection and adequate management. Therefore, the objective of this study was to determine the knowledge of the definitions of “respiratory symptoms” and the diagnostic algorithms of the health personnel of the Tuberculosis Program in health facilities in the municipality of Pasto, Nariño. The study was conducted using a quantitative and descriptive observational approach. Information was collected using a digital questionnaire to assess knowledge in specific priority areas. The results showed that health workers have a broad knowledge of high-domain areas, tuberculosis case definitions, and the responsibilities of entities that administer benefit plans; however, there are deficiencies in the diagnosis of people with HIV and contact search strategies. Although no significant differences were found according to hierarchy or type of contract, the need for improvement is highlighted in one specific aspect: the understanding and management of tuberculosis. It is noted that health workers with an optimal level of knowledge can effectively manage the TB program, as they could identify early cases and thus provide timely care.
