By promoting the safe use of medications and in accordance with current regulations, the Pharmacy Regency Technologist plays a very important role in the field of pharmacovigilance contributing to increasing patient safety, both in the community and hospital settings, professional availability and performance focused specifically on the medication favor compliance with its obligations which must be applied according to the pharmaceutical establishment, the processes defined by decree 780 of 2016 in chapter 10, which is aimed at increasing patient safety both in the outpatient or community setting, allowing them to comply with the regulations applied for pharmacovigilance. Furthermore, taking into account the errors that occur in pharmaceutical establishments, such as the presence of adverse events, as well as incidents that do not cause harm, but that were close to causing it, the occurrences of these in health care are more evident every day, generating concern in the health sector due to the complications presented in users and the legal implications that this entails in health institutions. For which carrying out a proper administration and quality management of medications should be one of the main factors within patient safety since they will serve as a tool and will be much more effective in minimizing or cushioning the adverse effects derived from errors present throughout the production, supply, prescription and dispensing chain and that have triggered serious problems in the health of patients and with this, promote the effective intervention of control and surveillance agencies, health care institutions, the medical staff, drug producing and marketing entities and the population itself in the care of life and health.
