LÍNEA BASE DE LA DURACIÓN DE LA LACTANCIA MATERNA EXCLUSIVA E INICIO DE LA ALIMENTACIÓN COMPLEMENTARIA EN MADRES LACTANTES EN LAS COMUNAS 11 Y 12 DEL MUNICIPIO DE PASTO EN EL AÑO 2023

Abstract

La lactancia materna exclusiva (LME) y la introducción de alimentos complementarios son aspectos fundamentales para la salud infantil, resaltando que la meta de la OMS es llegar a un 50% de LME y la meta del PDLMAC es alcanzar un 51% hasta el año 2030, en este orden de ideas, Según la última encuesta de la ENSIN, para Colombia, la LME en menores de seis meses es del 36,1% y para la región pacífica es del 45,9%, así mismo, según la secretaría de Salud de Pasto reportó que había un 92% de LME en el año 2021, sin embargo, según la Alcaldía de Pasto (2020), reportó que en el municipio, el 68,0% de los menores de cinco años, presentaron desnutrición crónica y el 8,0% desnutrición aguda para el primer trimestre del año 2018, por lo anterior, se vio la necesidad de tener datos confiables por medio de esta investigación, que se centra en las comunas 11 y 12 del municipio de Pasto, con el objetivo de determinar la duración de la lactancia materna exclusiva y el inicio de la alimentación complementaria (AC) en los primeros seis meses de vida.

Se realizó un momento 1 donde se encuestaron las 19 madres de manera presencial durante el puerperio, posteriormente, se realizó un seguimiento a través de encuestas telefónicas hasta que los niños cumplieran los seis meses de edad. Una vez realizadas las encuestadas se obtuvieron como resultados, que el 79% de las madres se encuentran en estratos bajos, por otro lado, se evidenció que un 79% de las madres tuvieron el parto por cesárea, en otro aspecto, se encontró que al 58% de los bebés les dieron leche de formula en el hospital, así mismo el 16% le brindaron la anterior mencionada, en el hogar, obteniendo finalmente un 42% de LME, por otro lado se destaca el resultado obtenido sobre del inicio de la AC, ya que el 100% de los niños iniciaron a los 6 meses.

Basándonos en lo anterior, se puede afirmar que en Pasto no se está cumpliendo en su totalidad los lineamientos de la OMS y PDLMAC los cuales indican brindar LME hasta los 6 meses de edad, evidenciando que en los resultados solo un 42% cumplieron estos, resaltando que existieron desafíos para brindar la lactancia. Finalmente, este estudio longitudinal contribuye al conocimiento científico al proporcionar datos específicos sobre la duración de la LME, resultados que pueden ser utilizados para investigaciones futuras.

Exclusive breastfeeding (EBF) and the introduction of complementary foods are fundamental aspects for child health, highlighting that the WHO goal is to reach 50% EBF and the PDLMAC goal is to reach 51% by 2030. In this order of ideas, according to the latest ENSIN survey, for Colombia, the EBF in children under six months is 36.1% and for the Pacific region it is 45.9%, likewise, According to the Pasto Health Secretariat, it was reported that there were 92% EBF in 2021. However, according to the Pasto Mayor's Office (2020), it reported that in the municipality, 68.0% of children under five years of age, presented chronic malnutrition and 8.0% acute malnutrition for the first quarter of 2018, therefore, there was a need to have reliable data through this research, which focuses on communes 11 and 12 of the municipality of Pasto, with the objective of determining the duration of exclusive breastfeeding and the start of complementary feeding (CF) in the first six months of life.

Moment 1 was carried out where the 19 mothers were surveyed in person during the postpartum period, subsequently, follow-up was carried out through telephone surveys until the children were six months old. Once the surveys were carried out, the results were obtained that 79% of the mothers are in low strata; on the other hand, it was evident that 79% of the mothers gave birth by cesarean section, in another aspect, it was found that 58% of the babies were given formula milk in the hospital, likewise 16% were given the aforementioned formula at home, finally obtaining 42% EBF, on the other hand the result obtained regarding the initiation of CA stands out, since 100% of the children started at 6 months.

Based on the above, it can be stated that in Pasto the WHO and PDLMAC guidelines are not being fully complied with, which indicate providing EBF up to 6 months of age, showing that in the results only 42% complied with these, highlighting that there were challenges in providing breastfeeding.

Finally, this longitudinal study contributes to scientific knowledge by providing specific data on the duration of EBF, results that can be used for future research.
