Description
The objectives of this research were to describe humanized nursing care for the reduction of post-traumatic stress syndrome in patients treated in the intensive care unit, as well as to identify the stressful factors that predispose patients to present this syndrome. It was a documentary review research, Bibliographic search was carried out in databases: PubMed, Scielo, google scholar, SciencDirect; of which 13 articles were reviewed; Repositories were also reviewed from which 8 documents were taken, for a total of 21 articles. Among the main results is that, currently, the mere fact of entering an intensive care unit generates stress, affecting the emotional state of the patient and predisposing him to the development of post-traumatic stress syndrome; among the stressful factors are invasive and painful procedures, death of other patients in the unit, excessive patient handling, separation from the family, loss of autonomy, use of medications. Finally, it is concluded that providing comprehensive and global humanized care will create an unbreakable nurse-patient protective bond, which will significantly help to avoid post-traumatic stress syndrome.
