Description
This article highlights the importance of computing today and its trends in the information society, emphasizing a trend that is gaining strength within organizations and institutions in general: ‘business intelligence’, which consists of analyzing data to convert it into information and knowledge that supports effective decision-making, to later develop an online solution aimed at incorporating elements of business intelligence and data analysis that contribute to strategic and managerial decisions in tourist visits in areas natives of Ecuador during the years 2019, 2020 and 2021 COVID or post-COVID period. In this sense, public data obtained from the website of the Ministry of Tourism was initially used, which was adapted to the characteristics of the object of investigation. Subsequently, the ETL process was designed to, finally, through the Tableau Public tool, carry out the implementation of the control panel for the creation of the dashboard, which are intelligent and interactive reports to read the data, generate knowledge and contribute to the subsequent decision-making by companies or public or private institutions dedicated to the tourism sector, as appropriate. The application of these elements showed that the ‘Business Intelligence’ solution allowed to support the information on annual visits, represent comparisons between natural areas, monitoring by provinces, and classifications by percentage.Related items
