Inequality in Latin America has been notorious in recent years, as a result of this maldistribution of wealth. However, it is pertinent highlight the progress achieved by Latin America in terms of reducing poverty and inequality, this development has arisen due to sustained economic growth and the rise of the middle class. However, Colombia still faces social and economic phenomena that strongly increase the gap between rich and poor. That is why from contemporary criticism theory is worth examining the crisis occurs in Latin America; for that end, Theotonio dos Santos, Ralph Miliband and Fred Block will give appropriate measures to identify the causes of the problem of dependency and inequality in Latin America, especially in the case of Colombia.
