The use and consumption of drugs has been stipulated during history as a problem that raises great importance in the physical, psychological and social impact, therefore the main objective was developed in order to strengthen user care processes with consumption patterns in drugs in the emergency services and general surgery in the Departmental University Hospital of Nariño (HUDN), the specific objectives were to elaborate the comprehensive care route for the consumption of substances, identifying the population through the application of the Assist instrument, psychoeducating in the effects, risk factors, transtheoretical model of change and the reduction of damages and risks; coping skills and contingency management were encouraged. Of the results obtained, the prevalence of alcohol, cigarette and bazuco was reflected, in addition, the majority of the users said they did not know the effects and risks of illegal drugs.
