Descripción
The article presents the information related to the incidence of the teacher’s social image in the construction of his identity, as a part of a broader investigation called ‘The professional teaching identity from the point of view of graduates in training’.The study was developed in three moments, with the use of semi-structured interviews, autobiographical narratives and a focus group. It was qualitative and ethnographic center focused on undergraduate students from the University of Nariño in the areas of Art, Exact and Natural Sciences and Human Sciences. From the answers, three approaches were raised towards the current image of teachers: economic remuneration, the devaluation of the professional role and the difficulty of the exercise of teaching as a profession. It should be noted that the comments give priority to the low value of the role of teachers as the center of thought in society.
