The present document responds to the need to know the level of consumption of psychoactive substances and vocational and professional interests of the inmates of courtyards 2 and 6 of the Penitentiary and Prison Institute (INPEC) of the city of Pasto, to promote the social participation and the reduction of this consumption. The work was carried out under a methodology of quantitative research, with an empirical approach, of descriptive type. The information was obtained through the instruments Test of Assist and Test of Holland, applied in the years 2013 and 2014 to 48 inmates, which gave evidence to show that the substances of greater consumption are alcohol, tobacco and cannabis. Also, it was possible to appreciate that the type of personality that prevails is the social one. It is highlighted that the personality type does not define the type of intervention and the level of risk in the consumption of these substances.
