This article is the result of the first stage of the research Recognition of intercultural meaning of women as a contribution to the processes of social responsibility of higher education, in the context of peacebuilding. Reflection arises from the assumption that in countries in armed conflict such as Colombia, the role of higher education institutions (public and private) remains timid and has very little impact on the subject, and is generally no more than academic discussions developed in forums and some curricular contents suggested in the curricula.The current dissertation revolves around the questions: What implications and scope does social responsibility have for higher education institutions? Is this function formally and clearly defined within institutions of higher education? Who is responsible for leading this type of responsibility within higher education institutions? In the field of higher education, social responsibility and social projection have clearly differentiated frontiers? What will be the social responsibility for Colombian universities in the framework of post-agreement between the FARC-EP and the State? These and other questions are brought to the table of the academic dissertation of the researchers and readers of this article.
