The consolidation of competitive advantages in a given territory undoubtedly becomes the coordinated and consensual action of the actors that infl uence it, and the productive bets defi ned from that interaction. This research was aimed at analyzing the competitive characteristics of the meat and dairy production chain, prioritized to develop in Arauca department, which sought to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the competitive economic sector, following an integrated multimodal approach. The reference parameters for the determination of the competitive profi le were taken from the research of Mosquera, Argumedo and Morales, carried out in the Ornamental sector in Atlixco (Mexico). The study concludes that this productive chain represents an important potential for growth and economic development in the Department, despite the need to overcome multiple structural constraints.
