Description
It is important to know the experiences of parents during hospitalization of neonates in order to identify needs and facilitate a rapprochement with health personnel. Because of hospital policies in Neonatal Inten-sive Care Units (NICU), parents’ income, in most institutions, is programmed by schedules, making them and also the family do not participate in the care of newborn, which makes the experience a traumatic situa-tion for the interruption of bonding mother - child. The aim of this paper was to deepen the theoretical review of the perceptions of parents with premature children against hospitalization in the NICU. Methodology used was based on a literature review of research, scientific, qualitative and quantitative articles, in English, Spanish and Portuguese, by consulting various databases and using themes such as parents, NICU, premature, experiences, and qualitative research in nursing. Three themes emerged from the analysis: Emotional Alteration of parents and families of premature infants hospitalized in the NICU, Environment in the NICU frustrates parents’ attachment, and Phenomenology inside nursing care. The study allows us to conclude that hospitalization of premature newborn in NICU is a situation that causes stress and insecurity in parents due to the physical environment of Unit and invasive procedures, which alter the family nucleus and interfere with bonding mother - child.Related items
