Currently, tourism is of great importance for the socio-economic and human development of communities. This research explored the dynamics of tourism development in the Chilcuanes and Descomulgada waterfalls, both on the part of the host community and the visitors. For this purpose, some problems of tourism activity were identified in order to develop a typology of sustainable tourism, such as ethno-tourism, which highlights the indigenous condition of the community and the sustainable practices that can be achieved by strengthening the culture and worldview of this indigenous community. In addition, the actions of visitors and the importance of preserving this place as a means of generating well-being can satisfy the demand for recreational activities while contributing to the care of the environment. In this way, economic, organizational, and cultural aspects are studied to identify the potential of ethno-tourism and the benefits of alternative actions related to tourism, where the common point is social welfare.
