Objective: To determine the level of patterns associated with decision making in adolescents. The study adopted the decision conflict model of Janis and Mann (1977) and the decision patterns defined by Luna and Laca (2014). Methodology: the work was developed from the quantitative paradigm, with a descriptive approach and cross-sectional design. The Melbourne decision-making questionnaire was applied to 50 adolescents from an educational institution. Results: When evaluating the decision-making patterns (vigilance, hypervigilance, defensive avoidance, and self-confidence), 80% of the students showed an adequate level of vigilance, which corresponds to an adaptive and useful decision-making pattern. In the other patterns, however, the indecisive level predominated. Conclusion: The results indicate the need to strengthen the ability to establish a definitive pattern.
