This article, the result of research, responds to the following problem question: What is a relevant didactic proposal for the artistic-musical education in the sixth grade of the Institución Educativa del Sur in the city of Ipiales, which includes elements of traditional Andean music from Nariño? The purpose of this research was to identify the interests and needs of the sixth-grade student population regarding musical education, as an input for the design of a didactic proposal based on traditional Andean music from Nariño, since it has been demonstrated the lack of pedagogical strategies that integrate themes in a transversal way. Thus, the research follows the framework of the qualitative paradigm, with a hermeneutic-historical approach and a diagnostic-propositional type of research.
