Design and evaluation of the instrumentation necessary for the application of dynamic olfactometry methodology
Resumen
The generation of odors that can become annoying in the communities surrounding the industries, constitute one of the most important problems for the environment today. The measurement of this nuisance in Colombia is framed within Resolution 1541 of 2013 of the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, as one of the initial steps for the assessment of offensive odors in the impact zones using the dynamic olfactometry methodology. It uses human evaluators as sensors and the characteristics of odors are taken into account in order to determine their concentration. This article describes the development of the tools for the application of the European methodology of dynamic olfactometry UNE EN 13725 in a composting process of a small plant of Sacrificio Frigovito S.A, Pasto, Colombia, in order to know the concentration of said odor emission source. Finally, the result obtained was 279.15 OUE / m3, this value compared to other composting processes, it is determined that in terms of emission it does not represent a high concentration value. © 2019 IEEE.
