The present investigation focused on understanding the social representations that, about love, have a couple that has experienced the kidnapping of one of their members, in order to describe the information, interpret attitudes and recognize the field of representation. A case study was conducted from the historical hermeneutical approach, in which a semi-structured interview and a life history were used to collect the information. The social representations made it possible to understand that a traumatic event, regardless of the time it lasts, will generate positive or negative changes in the couple, depending on how they deal with the situation, obtaining information about love in which knowledge inherited from the parents as respect, trust, applied in their daily life, sharing and enjoying moments as a couple, symbolized through details, beautiful phrases and love towards the couple.
