The purpose of this article is to know the financial performance of the SME`s of preserves, snacks and condiments in Colombia from 2010-2015 through an analysis of their accounting indicators and the economic value added that render account of their growth, efficiency, efficacy and effectiveness. The SME´s in this sector generated accounting profits during the study period, which are higher in the medium sized companies since they have more efficacy in the management of costs and expenses and in achieving a positive financial leverage. The SME´s also generate economic value added (EVA) in each of the years, and market added value (MAV) during the period; however, it is the small sized companies the ones creating a larger EVA per monetary unit invested due to their higher residual profit margin. These findings might be more solid if similar studies for more homogeneous SME´s as to age and geographical location could be undertaken.
