Description
Nutritional behavioral problems (NBP) have become a health problem that is affecting the young population. This research focused on knowing the factors that influence the presence of these disorders in students of the Mariana University. The development of the study took into account the sociodemographic characteristics, diagnoses of biological, psychological, family and social risk factors, and the relationship with these disorders.The research was developed with a mixed methodology, in three phases: 1. Quantitative data obtained after applying a virtual survey were collected. 2. Qualitative data were collected through interviews with focus groups. 3. A relationship was made, knowing the reality of the factors that caused the presence of NBP from an objective and subjective perspective.It was determined that the population under study is between the ages of 18 to 20 years, most of them female. The factors that led to the appearance of eating disorders were identified as: not eating, strict diets and eat foods low in calories, low self-esteem, fear of weight gain, family and environmental criticism, which in turn cause, rejection, episodes of anxiety, stress and depression.Students recognize that the event was influenced by family antecedents such as: anorexia and overweight, and they highlighted changes and consequences such as: low weight and, therefore, low defenses that make them vulnerable to diseases such as gastritis, irritable colon, anemia, depression, anxiety, which end up influencing their academic performance and their physical, psychological and social well-being.
