The objective of the present investigation is to know the occupational interests and the expectations of social participation of the older adult in the municipality of Guachucal in the department of Nariño, with the interest of contributing strategies for the participation in occupations that generate or stimulate an active aging, according to their personal expectations, for which a quantitative descriptive type study was carried out, with a sample of 170 adults over 60 years old, who were given the questionnaire of occupational leisure interests for the elderly, leaving as a result, that the activities they showed the most interest are: working in the garden, watching television, hiking, listening to music, sewing, going to mass or praying, visiting family or friends and caring for pets and animals of the farm. This leads to the conclusion that this type of study will serve to build public policy programs on aging and old age, in compliance with Law 1251 of 2008.
