The main objective of this paper is to analyze the interventions made by Nursing staff of Ipiales Civil Hospital to the patients with suicidal intent with phosphorus poisoning who arrived at the emergency department in the period of October 2006 through April 2007 with the purpose of providing care protocol attention that benefit the patients on behalf of the principal factors in this process, such as the patient, the healthcare staff, physicians, nurses and the institution itself. The patients with organophosphate poisoning require immediate attention and continuous assessment to identify the characteristics and symptoms of their condition in order to supply the measures needed to prevent complications in the evolution of clinical symptoms, decreasing hospital stays, reducing recidivism of cases and providing their reintegration into society.
