Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are infections that can be transferred from one infected person to another through sexual contact without using contraceptive devices; some of them can be transmitted through blood transfusions and by vertical transmission, which means that the mother during pregnancy, labor or delivery, can transmit the virus. Nonsexual transmission represents a very small percentage of the cases. Because sexually transmitted diseases have become significantly more common among teens, the aim of the present research was conducted to identify risk factors that expose the tenth and eleventh grade students of any high school in the city of Pasto in order to promote good habits and healthy lifestyles, keeping a responsible sexual behaviour.
